Sustainable resource preservation
Orkel and our employees are constantly searching for new areas to use the green compactor technology. With the climate changes happening, we see a huge need for better conservation of animal forages and better management of landfills and waste in nature and oceans. Our compactors enable high-density baling and superior conservation of more than 20 different bulk materials, facilitating environmental protection and sustainable resource preservation.
Challenges in the waste industry
Transport and storage of bulk materials presents a significant challenge for land management. In landfills, organic waste releases methane and other greenhouse gases into the air as it decomposes. Toxins seep into the groundwater, polluting waterways. Unbound waste may be blown and scattered into cities and oceans, harming humans, land animals and marine life.
Challenges in agriculture
For farmers, preserving and storing bulk animal forage presents a different challenge. Cattle feed stored in bunker silos may experience nutrition losses of over 30 per cent due to oxygen degradation. This results in a corresponding need for additional cultivated land.
We are proud to fulfill 5 of UN’s sustainability goals and to help the world to be a better place for nature, people and animals:
Zero hunger
Orkel’s compactors promote optimal forage production, thereby freeing up farmland and helping to achieve food security.
Clean water and sanitation
Orkel’s compactors help to prevent leakage of liquids from landfills that can contaminate the water supply.
Responsible consumption and production
Orkel’s compactors promote efficient resource use in food production and help to reduce methane emissions from livestock as well as landfills.
Life below water
Orkel’s compactors help to prevent landfill waste from polluting the marine environment.
Life on land
Baling cattle forage with Orkel’s compactors prevents nearly all nutrition loss; therefore less acreage is required to achieve the same forage yield, helping to prevent degradation from cropland expansion. Baling landfill waste helps to prevent spread of waste on land and seepage into soil.
Orkel's green technology can also be a part of fulfilling these goals and we are continously working to reach them:

Good health and well-being
Optimal forage for the animals leads to top quality of the food for human beings. Healthy and nutritious food is a part of gaining good health.
Afordable and clean energy
Non-recyclable waste can be sent to incinerators to be transformed into heat or electricity. At cement factories, they are able to get enough heat by burning waste like SFR instead of oil. When burning waste in small particles like SRF, it enables the factories to control and exploit the energy the burning waste produces. Waste in round bales simplyfies the logistics and makes it easier for the landfills and cement factories go through with this.
Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Sustainable industrialization with compactor technology! This applies to both the agricultural and industrial markets (forages and waste segments). When compacted up to 70%, it is possible to load almost three times as much material on each truck! Odor and loose material are minimized, making it possible to store bales in the open without polluting the environment.
Climate action
Stop climate change with enough food to farm animals without burning down forests. The solution: use our existing resources better!
